And so far it’s gotten 15 million views and $2MM in earned media.

National Park Service

The National Park Service will be turning 100 years old in 2016. The client felt that Americans viewed the parks as old and dusty. Research said they were right. Our job was to bring the parks to life for the Millennial generation. So, instead of fighting the urge to tell our target to put down their smart phones and tablets and explore the parks, we said, let's embrace the technology and use these devices to help enrich the park experience. The following speculative campaign helped win the business. (*work did not run)

AUGMENTED REALITY

To bring our concept to life of marrying the past with the present at the actual places we want people to visit, we will utilize augmented reality technology. By partnering with the popular app, What Was There, the user would hold up his or her smartphone to a scene, such as the Vicksburg Battlefield. Suddenly, we would see soldiers moving across the very spot that the visitor is standing on.

At Edison’s Menlo Park you can hold your smart phone up in his lab and then suddenly see Thomas Edison, in a still photo, hard at work in that very spot. We could also hear Edison comment on his creations through archival audio.

At Mount Rushmore, the user can hold up their phone or tablet to the mountain and see what it looked like before it was carved. An explosion would happen, revealing the famous faces. This content can also be shared on various social media platforms such as Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter.

nps.gov re-skinning

We would marry the look and feel of our "old meets new" campaign and apply it to the nps.gov site.

Coffee Table Book

Through Twitter and Facebook, we would ask people to post their park story in words and images. We would then curate the 397 most interesting stories and create a coffee table book to be released on the Centennial.

INSPIRING SELFIES FOR 100 YEARS

One of the most popular activities at National Parks these days is taking a "selfie". Turns out, people have been doing it for years. With the first one being Teddy Roosevelt in 1906 at Yosemite. When people take a selfie and post it to places like Facebook, we will send them a similar selfie of someone from the past who has stood in the same general vicinity.

STEVEN SPIELBERG

Steven Spielberg is one of the nation's biggest supporters of the National Parks. In fact, many of his films have been shot there. Jurassic Park at Arches National Park, ET at Redwood National Park, and Close Encounters at Devil's Tower National Monument.

We partnered with him and Geocache to create a nationwide scavenger hunt. Clues to the plot of his next movie would be hidden at various National Parks across the nation.

The person who collects all the clues and figures out the story would be given an all expense paid trip to the park where the movie would be shot and given an on-screen role.

Staying healthy is no easy feat. To reach a wide target, from hikers to travelers to holiday shoppers, we utilized the Instagram platform and posted pithy, often times snarky messages that would resonate with a multitude of audiences.

NYC Recycling

Let's Talk Trash.
The mayor's office approached us to create a campaign to encourage New Yorkers to recycle more. Instead of explaining how to recycle, we leveraged the insight that NY is actually 12th in the nation at recycling. By using that simple stat, we tapped into New Yorkers innate sense of superiority and pride, telling them just how bad they really are, inciting their competitiveness. Using iconic NY imagery and language, we talked to New Yorkers like New Yorkers.
After shooting the campaign, the mayor’s office ultimately opted for a smaller, more educational campaign, against our desperate entreaties.

Want to tell everyone in Donald Trump's voice that they're FIRED as a New Yorker for being so bad at recycling? Now you can. The Trash Talk app let's you take on one of over a dozen celebrity voices to berate your fellow New Yorkers to get with the program.

SPIN THE BOTTLE

An app that's both useful and fun, it's essentially a recycling compass. But we replace the compass needle with an empty bottle. The user enters their zip code and gives the bottle a flick, it spins, and points to the nearest recycling station, which you can then find on a map.

E-Trade asked us to create messaging to speak to an investing target that may not have retirement on their minds: 30-40 year olds. Little do they know how fast that retirement day sneaks up on you. We needed to remind them to be prepared.

The Chocolate Bar

We set out to reward The Chocolate Bar's frequent customer’s love of candy and their sense of humor at the same time. To do this, we designed the loyalty card with a dental chart on it. After 16 teeth are punched, they are entitled to a free pound of their favorite candy.

In addition to being a One Show finalist, it garnered a ton of free press.

Bronx Zoo

Siberian Tigers are amazing. And also a little intimidating. But when the Bronx Zoo told us that they were going to let people get closer to them than anyone had ever done before, we had an idea. Why not show life-size photos of them in bus shelters to replicate the experience of what you would see behind the protective glass at the zoo? That and some interesting commentary.
